- ✓Preparation and filing of your NIF request with Finanças
- ✓Your NIF sent to you by email, with the official document
- ✓Setup instructions for free electronic notifications, so you never owe a yearly representation fee

What it doesn't cover

- —Certified translations or apostilles, if your documents need them
- —Ongoing fiscal representation — you won't need it in most cases, and we explain why
How it works
-
01You send a request
The short form below. No documents and no payment at this stage.
-
02We check your case
Within one business day you get a straight answer: whether we can help, what documents we need from you, and how long your case realistically takes.
-
03You confirm and pay
Only then do we send an invoice for €95. If the timeline or the price doesn't work for you, you walk away having paid nothing.
-
04We file, you get your NIF
We handle Finanças and send you the number and the official document by email.
How long does it take?
We confirm your timeline before you pay, not before we've seen your case. Filing times at Finanças vary with the office, the season and how complete your documents are — anyone quoting you an exact number of days before looking at your paperwork is guessing.
Start your request
Two minutes, no documents yet. We reply within one business day.
When you don't need us at all
If you are in Portugal and can get to a Finanças desk with your passport and proof of address, a NIF costs you nothing and takes one visit. Our full free guide walks you through it step by step. Paying makes sense when you are abroad, have no one in Portugal who can act for you, or simply want the paperwork off your plate.

We keep a price comparison of six NIF services, including their renewal fees. If one of them fits you better, use it — the table is there to be used, not to sell you on us.
Compare NIF servicesFrequently asked questions
Do I have to pay anything now?+
No. The form sends us your case, nothing else. We invoice €95 only after we've reviewed your documents and you've agreed to the timeline.
Will I be charged again next year?+
No. The €95 is a one-off. Several services attach a yearly fiscal-representation fee that renews automatically — we don't, and we show you how to activate the free electronic notifications that make that fee unnecessary in most cases.
Is PortuSolve a law firm?+
No. We are an independent service that prepares and files your request; where a case needs a licensed professional in Portugal, we work with one. We are not affiliated with Finanças or any Portuguese government body.
Can I do this for free myself?+
Yes, if you can get to a Finanças desk in Portugal in person. Our free guide explains exactly how. This service exists for people who are abroad or don't want to deal with the process.
I'm going to freelance or run a business in Portugal. Can you help?+
That case comes with VAT obligations and a mandatory fiscal representative under Portuguese law, so it needs a licensed accountant rather than us. Tell us anyway and we'll point you in the right direction.
What documents will you need?+
Usually a passport and a recent proof of address from where you live now. We confirm the exact list for your case after you send the form — the requirements differ depending on your country and what the NIF is for.
